***Please remember to sign your child's agenda every night and empty the contents of their folder.
***I don't send homework every night, however, below are some activities you can do with your child at home:
* READING~
Read with mom or dad every night! Discuss the details of the story, pictures, sequence of events, beginning/middle/end and practice re-telling the story. Kindergarten is required to read 2 books from home each week and 1st grade is required to read 4 books in order to support our Reading Renaissance Program. Please fill out the AR testing ticket after reading through each book at least 2 times and send it back to school with your child. This indicates your child understands what he/she has read and is ready to take a test. (AR testing tickets are located on the homepage of my website).
Look for shapes, letters, and words you know in the newspaper, magazines, cereal boxes, etc...
Practice sight words too...Your child knows how to access Mr. Meador's sight words on the BCSS webpage or I can send home a list for you!
* MATH~
Count the things you see... chairs in your house, cars that go by, # of plates at the table, etc..
Count as high as you can! Use cereal or small toys/trinkets and make your own addition problems or match numbers to sets.
Look for shapes in your environment.
* WRITING~
Grab a pencil and paper and try to write words from newspapers, magazines, TV, etc...
also, click on the handwriting link on my 'helpful links' page. Try keeping a journal at home and draw a picture or write
about what you did at school each day.
* If you have a computer, check out some of the websites on my Helpful Links.
* If you don't have a computer at home, I encourage you to visit the Buford Library. There are lots of
resources for you and your child!
